Video News Interview

This is going to be part of your final exam. But you will have grades on "parts" of this before the exam begins.

You will conduct an interview of yourself. But not just a normal interview. You are going to interview your 25 year old self.

Then, you are going to edit your video so that you see the interviewer (you) asking questions, and the interviewee (also you) answering questions. You'll have a few more stipulations that I'll add to it.

Planning

First, read through this article about Journalist Techniques.

Script: Come up with 20 good questions that would be relevant to where you see yourself at age 25. What do you think you'll be doing at that age, and come up with thought-provoking, open-ended questions to answer.

Location: Where will this interview take place?  No - not in N107 or N108. Think of what you think you'll be doing at age 25 - where can it be? You'll use the green screen & lights to film so that you can put a location in the background.

Clothing: You'll ask your questions all at once so that you can be in different clothing as the interviewer and interviewee. Just remember - DON'T WEAR GREEN!!!

Practice: Journalists speak confidently to the person being interviewed. They've done their research and want answers. You should practice asking the questions, looking into the eyes of someone.

Filming

You'll need to take turns using the green screen and lights.

Film all of your questions first. Then come back another day with different clothing to film your answers.

Pause 5-10 seconds between questions and just look into the direction of the interviewee (this is for editing purposes later).

SPEAK UP AND SPEAK CLEARLY!!!

Use the microphone!

Cameras should be on the tripod

COMPOSITION is still important - pay attention to what is in the frame!

Editing

This will be updated for the final exam.
