Research & Create Presentation

Report:
Create a PowerPoint presentation about typography pictures. To focus your research, you should consider the following:

Typography
Describe in detail, "What is a typography picture?" Describe in detail.

Characteristics
What are the characteristics of a typography picture? How do you determine them? Type and size of font you should use? Should designs be black and white, color, or both? What program(s) can typography be done in?

Use of design
Why and when would you design a typography picture? Where would you use this design? Is there a time that it is not appropriate to use typography?

Personal Assessment
What do you think about typographic pictures? Be specific and give details!

Works Cited
Include a slide that has your works cited websites on it.
(google.com is NOT a source)

PowerPoint:
The PowerPoint should have a minimum of 6 slides. You should save it as a PPT file and email it to me. You should then save each slide as an image to put on your ePortfolio.

Maximum credit will be given for presentations that include a well thought out design with animations, clipart, pictures, and slide transitions.

Planning your Typography Portrait

Take a photo or find a photo online - must be a portrait.
No cartoon images.

Create a list of words or phrases that describe the photo (these will be used to create the portrait).

Upload the original photo and the list of words to your ePortfolio.

Creating your Typography Portrait

  1. Open Illustrator and create a document that is at least 8.5 x 11 in.
  2. Name your file:  #_lastname_typography-portrait
  3. Place your photo (it may be easier to see your text if you lower the opacity of the photo)
  4. Lock the layer with your photo.
  5. Create a new layer – this will be the layer where you type.
  6. Creatively arrange the text to create the photo.
  7. Hide the original photo layer and export your image as a PNG or JPG.

Turning it in...

Remember that the newest posts should be at the top of your current six weeks ePortfolio page.

  1. Title of the assignment
  2. Reflection Questions
    • List of words/phrases used in the portrait
    • What was your inspiration in choosing the photo and words you did?
    • What fonts did you use?
  3. Embed the original photo and the typography portrait.
