PS Face Slice Effect

This face slice effect should be completed in Photoshop.
This finished work can be submitted into the Digital Media Festival in Photomanipulation.  Here's an example...

What you'll need:

  • A close up, facing forward (can be at an angle), of yourself.
  • A 2nd (or even more) photo that can be used as a pattern for the slice. Tree trunk, grassy field, ocean waves, flowers, mandala, abstract art, etc. It needs to be a large resolution photo.
  • If you get these photos from a Google search, make sure you save the URL from where you got them. Google is not the source, you need the actual website where they are.

Directions:

Open your close up photo in Photoshop. DON'T open a new document, place it and resize it. Just open the photo!
Rename it: #_lastname_face-slice.PSD

You'll follow along with this video, however, there are a couple of additional requirements that I'd like you to make.  So read the requirements first before starting.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Follow the instructions in the video
  2. Good quality photos, in focus, large size, URL saved
  3. Do color correction on the photo before starting, if needed
  4. Good quality selection of the face - use Quick Mask Mode to edit the selection as necessary
  5. Patterned image in the slice instead of a solid color | Video
You can use 1 image, or try a theme of similar images for each slice
  6. You continue with your patterned theme by illustrating part of the background

Turning it in...

You'll post this assignment on your current six weeks ePortfolio page. Newest post is at the top of the page.

  1. Title of assignment
  2. Reflection questions
    1. What kind of theme did you choose for the cut outs and the background?
    2. What was the most difficult part of this assignment?
    3. List the URLs of the images used in the cutouts. Remember that Google is not a valid URL.
  3. Embed your image
