Basic Photography Rules

We'll go over the Photography Composition Presentation as a class. It wouldn't hurt if you jotted down some notes as we went. You may find them useful for your scavenger hunt.

Camera Basics

Please use your headphones to review this short video about our camera  and how to use it. This video shows you how to download the photos from the camera to your computer.

Check for Understanding

We're going to take a quiz, using Kahoot, to check to make sure you understand what you're doing. Please use your LCISD username so that I can identify you and give you credit for doing this work - it will be graded.

Scavenger Hunt

You will go on a photography scavenger hunt in designated groups of  2-3 people. Each person in your group is responsible for taking photos, so you should divide it up equally before you start. Pick up the checklist from me.

Remember to carry the camera strapped around your neck or wrist at all times. Turn it off when you are not shooting to save battery.

Be back in the class 10 minutes before the bell so that you can download photos. One person from your group will download the entire group's photos to a folder on your desktop called #_lastname_scavengerhunt . Don't forget to delete all of the photos from the SD card before removing it from the computer and returning it to me.

Reminders...

  1. Stay with your group, you have 1 pass for the group.
  2. Each person should take the same number of pictures - divide it up and put the person's initials next to the photo they take.
  3. Your group may not get all of the photos - that is okay!
  4. Do NOT go into classrooms.
  5. Keep your voices down in the hallway.
  6. Come back 10 minutes before the bell to download photos.
  7. When you come back
    1. Give me your pass & make sure the camera is off.
    2. Put your battery on the charger, make sure it lights up.
    3. Eject the SD card and use card reader to download photos to the folder on your desktop
    4. Delete photos from SD card
    5. Put SD card back in camera - YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FORCE IT - return it to me.
    6. Review the next stage of the challenge.

Put all the photos together

Look at the Photography Scavenger Hunt sheet - rename the photos to the matching number on the sheet. 01, 02, 03, etc. Also, open and look at each photo, rotate it as necessary to be able to view it correctly.  Once the photos are renamed properly they should be in numeric/alpha order and ready to combine into a PDF

Launch Adobe Spark. You can open it from the Adobe CC app, or search for it on Google.  You'll need to log in using your LCISD email. Watch this video to see how simple this is. Note - you may want to use it for other classes.

Turning it in

  1. Open your Canvas ePortfolio to the Introductory Materials page. Add the heading at the top of the page:  Photography.
