Illustrator Logo Project

Logo

A logo is a symbol or other design adopted by an organization to identify its products, uniform, vehicles, etc. Watch this short video, "What is a brand?"

Play the Retail Alphabet Game to see how many of these famous companies you can identify by part of their logo.  Some will be more obvious than others, and some may be from a different part of the country, so you won't know what they are.

Read through this 4 page article (download PDF) about the Basic Building Blocks for Logo Design. You will build a logo in the next step and will need to utilize these building blocks to design your logo.

Read through Logo_of_Letters.pdf in  Poland > Pickup.

Design Your Logo

You will create a logo for your own personal brand - YOU. Your logo will use your initials as well as the "building blocks" from the article in the previous section.

Start a new file in Illustrator, letter size, save it as #_lastname_logo. Use the skills that you have learned through the Illustrator Challenges and explore other tools to create your logo. When you complete the logo, save it, and do a File > Export to save as a JPG and turn in to Poland.

Business Stationery

Now that your logo is complete, you will use it as a part of the design of your own personal stationery. Remember that your logo is your brand - it identifies you, so don't change it up on each document. Be creative and be smart and TAKE YOUR TIME. You will have...

  1. Business Card
Size: 3.5 in by 2 inSave as: #_lastname_business_card
  2. Letterhead
Size: Letter 8.5 in by 11 in
    Save as #_lastname_letterhead
  3. Website Banner
Size: 1000 px by 200 px
    Save as #_lastname_web_banner

If you want to see examples of these, do a Google search, just don't copy what you see. Please read through Business_Card.pdf in  the Campus Share Drive. Do a Google search for "design letterhead" for some examples of what you need to do. Your design should be in the top 2 inches of the page only, sometimes people will utilize the bottom inch as well. You've created website banners in other programs. Now do it in Illustrator.

Save each of your files, then Export as JPG's to put on your ePortfolio and OneDrive.
