Elective Course Selection Movie Trailer

Watch

What is an elective?

An elective is a class that you choose to take - it's not one of your required core courses. You have to take some elective courses, but you get to choose which ones.

Electives rely on students signing up for them to make them work.

Choose one of your elective classes, or I can give you one. I'd like for everyone to choose a different course - so please tell me what you are choosing.

Pre-Production

What Should Be in the Video?

Think of this video as a movie trailer, like the example you saw. They used actual movie clips and tried to tie them into the text that was flashing at the time.

You'll want to conference with the teacher to tell them you are creating a Course Selection Movie Trailer for them. Give them the ideas that you have, and ask them what they would like to see in it.

How long should it last?

Between 20 seconds and 1 minute! Long enough to get the information across, short enough not to lose student's attention.

I'll send the teachers a questionnaire when you are completed with the conference to ask how you did. You'll receive a minor grade for it.  Remember to be professional. stand up, speak up, take notes, and listen to what they want.

Video clips:

  • Shoot film of the class
  • Student examples of work

Production

You'll need to film all of your scenes which may mean borrowing a camera to interview teachers or students. Plan for it!

Also, remember that you may need to assist each other in filming.

The quality of your clips is essential - I'm still seeing half of people's heads chopped off.

Leave 2 seconds of "black" before you call action in your scene. This will make it easier to
