7 Illustrator Live Paint & Image Trace

Image Trace

Sometimes it is too difficult to draw complex illustrations by hand. At times like this, it may be better to use existing artwork and use the Image Trace feature to turn it into a vector image.

You'll need to get the #_lastname_butterfly.ai OR the #_lastname_dot-to-dot_heart.ai file from the Campus Share Drive. You'll also need to get a second photograph - your choice. Try something from your Photography Scavenger Hunt from earlier in the year.

Save, and then Save for Web as a JPG to go on your Canvas ePortfolio

Live Paint

This tool gives you the ability to fill color into any area created by overlapping lines or shapes.

You'll need to get a "coloring page" image by using Google Image search. You'll also need to choose a color scheme from Adobe Color before you get started with this.

Open a new Letter sized Illustrator file, save as #_lastname_live_paint.ai. You'll Export > Save for Web as a JPG when you finish.
