6 Photoshop Elements of Art

What are the Elements of Art?

We covered the Elements of Art earlier in the year. However, it's in your best interest to give it a little review before you get started. Please review the presentation I created, but I like these short videos from KQED Art School and Art Heroes:

  1. Elements of Art
  2. Line
  3. Shape
  4. Form
  5. Color
  6. Value
  7. Space
  8. Texture

Applying the Elements of Art

There are 2 files in the Campus Share Drive for you to choose from: Elements-frog.PSD Elements-parrot.PSD. You can pick which one you'd like to complete for this part of the challenge.  Copy it to your One Drive and then rename it with your period # and last name.

You will draw the frog/parrot using each of the Elements. Take your time, this cannot be done in a rush. Neatness counts! Watch and follow along with these videos to complete this stage. NOTE: I completed these in an earlier version of Photoshop, but you should be able to find the tools and options with these.

*** You must start each drawing on a new layer, and you should lock the layers you have finished so that you don't accidentally draw on them.

Save your Photoshop file as you go. When you are finished and you're satisfied with your work, hide the layer with the original photos before saving it as a JPG to go on your Canvas ePortfolio.

Turning it in

You will upload the completed JPG to the ePortfolio. Newest post goes at the top.

Refer back to this video if you don't remember how to upload the image and embed in your page. Be sure to include:

  1. Title of the challenge (Photoshop Elements of Art)
  2. Answer these questions and/or complete the sentence stems:
    1. The toughest element to draw was the ________ because _______.
    2. Elements of Art are important because _________________.
  3. Insert the JPG image(s) that you created in this challenge (Elements)
