5 Drawing Tablets

Drawing Tablets

graphic tablet (also known as a digitizer, drawing tablet, digital drawing tablet, pen tablet, or digital art board) is a computer input device that enables a user to hand-draw images, animations and graphics, with a special pen-like stylus, similar to the way a person draws images with a pencil and paper.

Each computer has an assigned graphics drawing tablet and pen - they have the same number as the computer you are sitting at. They could be one of three brands:

  • XP-Pen
  • Wacom
  • Monoprice

If at any point you don't see your assigned tablet or pen, please let me know so that we can track it down. Same if your tablet or pen doesn't seem to work - let me know as soon as you discover it.

Drawing Practice

While drawing with a tablet is intended to simulate drawing by hand, it can be a little tricky and sensitive. That's why we are going to practice with it.

Open a new Photoshop file, Letter size, name it: #_lastname_drawing_practice1.PSD. Use the graphics pen and tablet to draw these lines, shapes, and your name forwards & backwards.

When you are finished, save it as a JPG for your Canvas ePortfolio.

More Drawing Practice

Open a new Photoshop file, Letter size, name it: #_lastname_drawing_practice2.PSD. Use the graphics pen and tablet to draw these lines, shapes, and your name forwards & backwards.

When you are finished, save it as a JPG for your Canvas ePortfolio.

Draw a Koala

In the Campus Share Drive, you'll find instructions for Drawing a Koala Bear.PDF.  Follow along with these instructions to create the koala illustrated in the document.

Open a new Photoshop, letter size, landscape, #_lastname_draw_koala.PSD.  Use the graphics pen and tablet to draw the koala.

When you are finished, save it as a JPG for your Canvas ePortfolio.

Turning it in

Update Photoshop page of your Canvas ePortfolio with the following information and let me know when you have completed it so that I can check it for a grade. You can follow along with this video if you don't remember how to embed your images. New posts should be at the top.
