Shapes
Photoshop has several shape tools - rectangle, ellipse, rounded rectangle, polygon, line & custom shapes. Each of these has options that you can customize - tool mode, blend mode, opacity, path operations, etc.
Brushes
The brush tool also has many options - Tool preset, Brush preset, Blend Mode, Opacity, Flow, Airbrush, Pressure Sensitivity. The brush tool has it's own panel as well - Brush & Brush Presets.
Drawing in Pixels
You'll create a basic postcard using the Shapes and Brush tools & options. Save it as a PSD file for editing, and a JPG when you are finished: #_lastname_postcard
