3 Music Video with Effects

You've worked with the basic editing tools of Adobe Premiere already.  Now it's time to add some of the basic effects that this program can do. You'll be working with the...

  • Effects Panel
  • Effects Workspace

You'll need to watch these videos BEFORE you get started so that you can see the different effects that I used. You still get to choose how & when to use them, your video shouldn't necessarily look just like mine.

  1. Setup Premiere Pro
  2. Editing & Effects Part 1
  3. Editing & Effects Part 2
  4. Editing & Effects Part 3

Texas Music Video

Before you create your own music video, you'll need to create one with my clips and music.

Download this folder for your project. It has 1 song and lots of clips for you to use.

Requirements

  • Choose 1.5 minutes of the song - any part of it
    1. Listen to the lyrics
    2. Match clips to lyrics
  • Choose 10 or more clips to apply effects
    1. Use 2 or more effects from Effects  from Video Effects folder
    2. Use dissolve  transition from the Video Transitions folder
    3. Use Scale, Rotate, Position, Opacity in Effects Panel 2 or more times
  • Trim clips to appropriately fit the song
  • Export as H.264, Match Bitrate, to your Texas Music Video folder as #_lastname_Texas Music Video  (if you get an error, export it as AVI).

Upload the video to  YouTube and embed it in your ePortfolio (at the top of the page)

Creating your own

Song

You will choose a song that is school appropriate. YOU must provide the mp3 and the printed lyrics. If you don't you can use one of mine.  I need to approve the song before you start. You'll choose 1.5 minutes of the song for this video.

Planning
  • You will write a storyboard that shows what is going to take place in your video
  • Your storyboard must include timings to show what is happening with the lyrics
  • You need to label each scene with the order that you plan to shoot (this way you can shoot all of one actor on the same day so that they don't come back with different clothes on)
Filming
  • You will film all of your clips.
  • Composition, composition, composition!!!
  • Use a variety of shot in your filming to keep it interesting
  • You may use actors, but all of your classmates will be filming their own, so you will also need to film clips of "things" that are not actors.
  • If you want to be in your own video, you will need to set up the camera and tripod, then film yourself.
  • If you have friends that are not in the class that you want in your video, you can arrange to check out a camera and tripod before school.
  • If you have a phone with high quality video, you can use that to film outside of the school day as long as you have it turned landscape and use something to support it during filming.
Editing
  • You will edit your own video in Premiere Pro
  • You will trim clips neatly
  • You will refer to the rubric below for the requirements
  • You will export a finished clip
