Symbols

Symbols make it easy for you to repeatedly use objects throughout your project and across multiple documents. Illustrator comes with a large library of symbols that can be edited, transformed, & colored to suite your needs. You can also import symbols  purchased/downloaded from the Internet or from another project. You can create your own symbols as well.

You'll need to get the #_lastname_symbols.ai from the Campus Share Drive and copy it into your One Drive folder. Then, rename & open. For the other symbol, you'll need butterflies.ai.

Create a Logo

In this exercise, you will create a logo for a fictional company. You will use text and pre-made symbols.  Remember to save early and save often. Watch and follow along with these videos to complete the challenge.

Save your file, then Save for Web as a JPG to upload to your Google Site.

Turning it in...

1. Go to the Illustrator page of your ePortfolio
2. Write your new entry at the top of the page
   1. Title of your assignment/challenge
   2. Answer the following questions:
      1. In your own words, explain how to create a symbol.
      2. Why is a symbol beneficial to your work?
   3. Insert the JPG image of your completed work. Here's a video in case you don't remember how.
