Workspace
Watch this video so that you can learn about the Photoshop workspace. You'll learn:
- Tools
- Panels
- Menus
Layers
The layers panel will be used in everything you do in Photoshop, and in other Adobe software. At the end of this lesson, you'll know how to:
- Create a new layer
- Rename layers
- Reorder layers
- Understand the stacking order
Watch this video and follow along to learn how layers work. There are some files in the Campus Share Drive > Samuelson > PS_Layers folder that you will need to use for this part. You'll have an image at the end to upload to your Canvas ePortfolio. You should save it as a Photoshop file to be able to edit later, and as a JPG to upload: #_lastname_shapes. Don't forget to save both files to your One Drive.
Selection tools
These tools are also used in many different ways. You can use them to select parts of photos, or just parts of space to add color or texture. At the end of this lesson, you'll know how to use these tools and their options:
- Move
- Rectangular marquee
- Elliptical marquee
- Lasso
- Polygonal Lasso
- Eyedropper
Watch and follow along with these videos to create a basic composition in Photoshop. Once you are finished, you'll need to save it as 1_lastname_selections.PSD to be able to edit later, and once you are finished, save it as a JPG to upload to your Canvas ePortfolio. Don't forget to move both files to your One Drive when you are finished.
Turning it in

Update this new page with the following information and let me know when you have completed it so that I can check it for a grade. You can follow along with this video if you don't remember how to embed your images.
