InDesign Introduction
InDesign is another Adobe product, so the layout and workspace will look very familiar to you. This program is used for Desktop Publishing - newsletter, newspaper, magazine, book, yearbook can all be created using InDesign.
Create a new folder in Schools called: InDesign. InDesign is similar to DW in that you use other files, so they should all be stored in the same location. All files you use and save for this challenge should be kept here.
Watch this video to learn a few important terms about desktop publishing and InDesign. You will define these terms later in your ePortfolio.
- Bleed
- Text Frame
- Graphic Frame
- Gutter (for columns)
- Spread
In this video, you'll view the program itself and take a look at the workspace. I will show you which boundaries/lines go with the terms from the previous video.
***Note, this video is from an earlier version of InDesign and will look a little different. You may have to look in a different place for a tool. If you can't find it, ask for help!

You will learn how to...
- Add effects
- Add and edit object styles
Create a Newsletter
Follow this video to create a newsletter about a resort.
Make sure you save the file as you go. When you finish, export it as a JPG to upload to your Canvas ePortfolio. Typically InDesign is used to create spreads for printed publications, but for our ePortfolio we need to save it as a JPG.
