This Friday is the end of the progress report grading period.
Put your phones away so that they do not get turned in to the AP.
You’re ready for Thanksgiving break, I’m ready for Thanksgiving break, EVERYBODY is ready for Thanksgiving break! BUT… I need you to remember that the progress report deadline is right around the corner on December 3rd! Then you have 1 more week until Semester Exams.
You cannot afford to procrastinate right now. We need to get work done!
Please open your ePortfolio and/or your assignments from the last few days so I can check the work you did while I was out.
Each day you should log into TechSmart to see what is scheduled. You should complete each part of the lesson. If you do not finish, you will need to finish for HW. Remember that if you do not finish, it is 10 points off for each day late and I will not accept it after it is 3 days late.
Here are the videos to help you with new instruction:
Friday – Booleans
Monday – Compound Expressions
Tuesday – Flexible Input and Reduce Compound Expressions
Your phones and headphones should be put up because there is listening involved in this editing and you cannot be distracted.
There is a new challenge posted on the AV page. It’s called Horror Film Editing. The clips you’ll need for this project are in the Campus Share Drive. Please read through the requirements for the video before beginning your editing. Work through each stage of the challenge.
When you finish, you should make sure you’ve completed and posted your 25 shot video. Then you can continue working on your After Effects lesson from last week.
If the sub sees that you are not doing work and/or claim to be finished with everything, you’ll be assigned a reading assignment with reflection questions.
Graphic Design 1: I’ve added a challenge on your page (in the Illustrator section) called Flat Autumn Design Icons. You are going to work on this over the next few days. It culminates with you updating the 3rd six weeks page of your ePortfolio (don’t forget to Publish, Share & Update).
Follow the instructions carefully. There is no video, only written instructions.
When you finish, you should choose another prompt from Inktober.com to practice your drawing skills. Remember to alter the thickness of your strokes – I’m still seeing too many thick strokes and no variety. Or you can go back to your previous assignment. But you must be working.
If the sub sees that you are not doing work and/or claim to be finished with everything, you’ll be assigned a reading assignment with reflection questions.
Graphic Design 2: I’ve added a challenge on your page at the end of the Photoshop chain for your ACA Review. You are going to complete all of this challenge, starting with the written practice exam. Some of the questions aren’t worded perfectly – do your best. Then you’ll do all of the practicals with Photoshop. The source files are in the Campus Share Drive.

Remember that you have a new seating chart and should be placing your phones and earbuds in the wall pocket next to the white board. Anyone with phones that are out next to you or being used will be written up. If you don’t remember where your new seat is, please ask the sub.
You will work through the exercises for Friday in TechSmart. I’ve included a video to help you through the purple instruction part.
You are expected to finish these exercises during class. You may ask your neighbor for help.
Both AV classes will work in After Effects today.
Use the PNG files in the Campus Share Drive…

These are LCHS logos that we can use.
There are 3 very short and easy tutorials in this video to help you animate a logo. You will do as many as you have time for as they will help you become more comfortable with After Effects. Save them as 3 different files. He talks really fast, so you’ll need to press pause and rewind to help you complete each step.
At the end of class, or as you finish each tutorial…
Use the “Snip and Sketch” Tool in your program files to take a screenshot of your timeline. Paste the image(s) into a Word document. Make sure your name is on it and print at the end of class to hand to the sub.
Today’s assignment is inspired by Inktober. You can watch how they came up with the idea here. The premise is simple. You are practicing your drawing skills. Only you are going to do this in Photoshop or Illustrator instead of with paper and pen. Feel free to spend a couple of minutes on Instagram and see what artists have done by searching for #Inktober2021.
You are encouraged to work together at times and even help each other through tough sections of code. But cheating is not tolerated. Getting a complete set of code to copy from someone else is not helping. It is cheating. If you are caught cheating you will receive a zero with no chance to make it up. The person giving the answers is just as guilty as the person receiving them.
Phones are to be put in the Wall Pocket behind my desk EVERY DAY. If your phone is out (on your desk, in your hand, etc) then it will be confiscated and turned in.
Assignments are expected to be handed in or submitted through TechSmart on the day that they are due. If you do not finish it in class, it is your responsibility to finish it for HW, or come in for tutorials the following morning. Each day it is late will have a 10 point deduction. It will not be accepted more than 3 days late.
***You will receive 1 extra day for each day you are absent. However, if it was assigned before you were absent, and due the day you are absent – it is due when you return.
