I wanted to share an email I got from Code Academy yesterday. Now, they are trying to sell a program, but I wanted you to see that Javascript is an important language to learn…
Make $102k per year with this one skill
It’s rare that learning just one skill could rocket your pay into the six figures. But that’s the reality today.
Recent Indeed data shows that jobs requiring knowledge of React.js pay some of the highest salaries in the technology industry—as much as $102,589 per year on average. And if you’ve already designed a static website using HTML and CSS, you’re perfectly placed to take advantage. Just give us a couple of weeks to get you up to speed.
Our new Web Development Pro Path will teach you the front-end programming skills that companies will pay a premium for. Along the way, you’ll:
Develop a strong foundation in JavaScript—before moving on to advanced concepts such as Modules and Requests.
Learn React.js—the robust JavaScript library that powers Facebook, Instagram, and Netflix, among many other popular applications.
Develop real-life portfolio projects—and front-end development skills you can start using in the workplace immediately.
Go from no front-end coding experience to building beautiful, functional web apps that will get you noticed—and hired.
GDI2 will be taking the Adobe Certified Associate exam for Photoshop and Illustrator later this year. The rest of you will take corresponding exams next year in your level 2 class. I need for ALL OF YOU to register now so that you can take some test prep assignments.
Use your full, given name for both registrations! Use your school email:
Today you’ll be picking a new MUSTang Time enrichment class. If you want extra time on the computer to work on assignments for this class, any other class, or just want to explore other computer topics (photography, video, drawing, animation, audio, etc) – then sign up for my session.
No, you don’t have to be in my class to join, so you can join with a friend.
You have 1 week to submit your entries to the LCISD Digital Media Festival. Entry forms are on the front table. It is a requirement for Graphic Design & Illustration and Audio/Video. It is recommended for PAAVTC. You will receive a project grade on your entry!
Please remember to tell me you’ve updated your Canvas ePortfolio with finished work. If you don’t tell me, I don’t know to grade it!
Last, this is a cell-phone and earphone free zone! Put them away when you walk in so that you can concentrate on completing your work!!!
Reminder that you must complete work by the end of class TOMORROW in order for me to have it graded and in Skyward by my deadline for Progress Reports!
Music Videos have been graded. If you want to know how you got the grade you did, pick up your rubric from the front table. Since it is a MAJOR grade, you are eligible to re-do or fix it to bring it up to passing. That will require you coming in for AM tutorials and/or lunch.
If you see a zero for an assignment that you have completed, please show it to me so that I can change it in Skyward.
The rest of us will work to get challenges completed for Progress Report Deadline!!!
LCISD Digital Media Fair Entry Forms are on the front table. When you complete your entry…
Fill out the form and submit it to me
Turn in the correctly named file to the Samuelson_Drop > 2019_LCISD_DMF_Entries folder
